Muscovy Ducks

Muscovy Ducks are native to South America.  Muscovies are so named because the first specimens reached Europe on the Muscovy Steamship Line.  Muscovy Ducks and Mallards are the two species of ducks that lend themselves to domestication.  Our Muscovies are not very domesticated but they will show up at feeding time.  They came to the Paynederosa after we built the pond.  They are strong flyers and have the ability to perch in trees.  They are intelligent animals
